RATCLIFF, Scott Ezra Sowers - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Kingman, Ind. (CNS)—Scott E. Ratcliff, 84, died unexpectedly at 7:15 p. m. yesterday (Sept. l8, 1966) at his home in Kingman. He had been in failing health for some time. Born Sept. 29, 1881, near State Line, he was the son of James and Louisa Ratcliff Sowers. He was adopted by an uncle, C. H. Ratcliff. He was married Aug. 7, 1905, to Elsie Briggs, who died in May, 1953. He later married Mary E. Stern on March 8, 1956, who survives. Mr. Ratcliff was a retired funeral director, having operated a funeral home in Crawfordsville for 15 years. He also was a former cashier at the former Citizen's Bank in Kingman. He was known for his singing and work as a soloist. He was a graduate of the Indiana University School of Dentistry and Indiana College of Embalming. He had attended Kingman schools. He was a member of the EUB Church, Montgomery Masonic Lodge 150 and Athens Chapter Order of Eastern Star. Other survivors include a son, Donald B. of Remmington; a daughter, Mrs. Norman (Vivian) Cox of Claymont, Del.; a stepson, Robert E. Stern of Lafayette; a brother, Dale of Veedersburg, and two sisters, Mrs. Charles (Bertha) Culver of Pittsboro and Mrs. Ray (Della) Daulton of Brownsburg. (CNS)---Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the EUB Church for Scott Ratcliff, 84, who died at 7:15 p.m. Sunday at his home in Kingman. The Rev. Yung Chen will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Harold Kollmeyer. Burial will be in the Kingman Fraternal Cemetery. The body is at the family residence where friends will be received from 3 p.m. today to 11 a.m. Wednesday. The body will be taken to the church at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Davies-Tudor Funeral Home is it charge.   --typed by Walt W
