RATCLIFF, Russell E. - WWII

Russell E. Ratcliff, 62, of Veedersburg Route 3, died Friday morning, March 9, 1979, at Palms at Pasadena Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla., where he was a winter resident.

  Ratcliff was a member of Mellott United Church of Christ, the Linden Masonic Lodge, Newtown Order of the Eastern Star Lodge 244 and the Quigle-Palin American Legion Post at Newtown. He was an Army veteran of World War II and served in Europe.
  He was a retired farmer.

  Ratcliff was born April 11, 1916, in Crawfordsville to Arnette and Odessa Hedge Ratcliff. He was married Sept. 15, 1940, to Ruth Chase. She survives.

  Also surviving are two sons, Charles L. of Crawfordsville and Michael V. of Portage; two daughters, Mrs. Clifford (Phyllis) Delmage and Ms. Roberta J. Ratcliff, both of LaPorte; a sister, Mrs. Flora Pope of Lafayette; a brother, Gale Pierce of Jamestown; five grandsons and a granddaughter.

  Services were held Monday at Crumley-Williams Funeral Home at Hillsboro, with the Rev. Robert Boyd officiating. Burial was at Newtown Cemetery.
