COVINGTON — Penelope Sue
"Penny" Coffing-Ratcliff, 36, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007 in a single
car accident on River Road, south of Covington. She was born April 7, 1971 in Danville,
Ill., the daughter of Gregory A. and Ruthie (Gee) Coffing. She graduated from
Covington High School in 1989. She attended Indiana State University and
Danville Area Community College. She had been employed at Steel Grip, CCMSI,
Phelps Brothers, and Amanda's House of Hair as a receptionist. She loved
spending time with her boys, nieces and nephews, as well as other family
members. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include:
her parents, Greg (Lori) Coffing, Kingman and Ruthie Coffing; a sister, Angi
(Stuart) Tuggle; three sons, Nick and Chase Ratcliff and Brooks Nicely, all of
Covington; grandparents, Joe and Sylvia Coffing, Kingman; fiance, Jerry Nicely,
Covington and his parents, Jerry and Tenna Nicely, Fort Wayne; nieces, Haleigh,
Heather Harwood, Elizabeth, Olivia and Adrienne Tuggle; and a nephews, Hayden
Harwood. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Gordon and Ruth Gee.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Thursday in Shelby Funeral Home, Covington,
with Sam Guilliams officiating. Burial was in Coal Creek Cemetery. Memorials
requested to Ruthie A. Coffing Grandchildren Scholarship Fund at Old National
