Mrs. Laurena Ratcliff, age 86 a resident of Kingman for many years, died Monday December 31 at her home. She was born January 15, 1876 in New York, the daughter of BF & Marie Hays McHenry. She married Dr. AL Ratcliff September 11, 1894 in Merom in the home of her. Dr. Ratcliff was a practicing physician in the community for approximately 50 years until his death on January 25, 1951. Mrs. Ratcliff was a member of the Kingman Methodist Church and WSCS, Daughters of Union Veterans, Mary S. Smith Tent 35, Kingman's Woman's Club, and for more than 50 years Kingman Order of Eastern Star. She received her 50 years membership pin in 1958. Surviving are 4 sons, Dr. Gilbert of Huntington W Va; Orville M. of Muncie; Dr. Frank Ratcliff of Lafayette and Cathmar Ratcliff of Moab, Utah; a daughter, Mrs. Winifired Newnum of Pontiac, Ill; a brother, Loris McHenry of Phoenix, Az; a sister, Mrs. Beatrice Carey of San Jose, Calif; 9 grandchildren and 5 greats.
