Frances Vandelene Ratcliff the second child and only daughter of Theson (sic) V. and Josephene L. Ratcliff born Feb 23, 1909 departed this life Feb 6, 1914 aged 4 years 11 months and 13 days. While a babe of four or five months Frances had sickness which caused the loss of her eye sight and although robbed of her greatest pleasure, she was always a kind and loving child. During her short life here she had a great deal of sickness which she bore without a murmur never complaining. Her one misfortune was a gain to her in other ways for her intellect was more than that of an ordinary child. She had begun to tell us where she was going to school, how she would learn to read and write and her greatest pleasure music. But no, Frances' school days are over; they were only pleasant dreams to her. All was done for her that loving hands could do. She has left to mourn their loss, Pappa and Mamma, Ward, Wilber and baby Winfred, her two grandmothers, one grandfather, grandfather Frazier having preceeded her in death one year ago and many other realtives and friends. For to know Frances was to love her. Her first words in making a new acquaintance were "I love you, do you love me?" Their answer was always, Yes. But now a precious flower is from our household gone. The little voice we love is still, gone to
our Master from whom all blessings flow.-- S
