Clara Dot Dark, daughter of William and Effie Cory Dark, was born Sept 11 1896 and departed this life Feb 3 1926 at the age of 29 years 4 mo. and 22 days. She received her education at a little county school near her home excepting her last few years which were spent in the public school of Kingman. It was during her school days that she met her ideal. Being in the same class all the way through school, she later chose this boy as her companion and on March 16 1912, she became the bride of Warren Moore Ratcliff, oldest son of Miles A. Ratcliff of this place. To this union were born two sons, Clifford Dale and Denver Eugene Ratcliff. Being of a bright and sunny disposition she chose to make all those around her happy. She always had a smile for every one she met and was already ready to lend a helping hand to any of her neighbors. On Jan 7 1924, she gave her life to God and has since lived a Christian life. She was a devoted wife and mother and always tried to do everything in her power to make her husband and children happy. She has been in failing health for the last few months but bore her suffering patiently, and upon being advised that a surgical operation was necessary, entered St. Elizabeth Hospital Feb 2 1926. At 10 o'clock Wednesday morning she went smilingly to the operating room planning to come back feeling better. She realized the anxiety her loved ones felt for her and always tried to spare them by telling them not to worry for she was going to be all right, but alas about one o'clock she quietly and peacefully passed into the great beyond, from whence no traveler ever returns. She has gone from us and friends but our loss is her eternal gain. She leaves to morn her loss, her heart broken husband, two sons, Dale and Eugene, a loving father and mother and three sisters. - thanks to Betty D.
