Clem E. Ratcliff, oldest son of William M. and Nancy Sowers Ratcliff, was born May 18, 1883 in Fountain County, Indiana. At the age of 65 years, 10 months, 20 days, at sundown on the evening of April 7th at his home in Kingman, he went down to rise again on a Fairer Land.
On December 26, 1906, he was united in marriage to Carrie McHargue of Kingman. To this union, two children were born, Wilma Marie, who died in infancy and Mrs. Dorothy Wright of Kingman.
He was an early member of the EUB Church. He served as trustee, class leader and Sunday School superintendent. The church had been closed for some time when he had the inspiration to open the church and organize a Sunday School, which proved very successful as it has continued until the present time. He also taught the young people’s class for a number of years and at the time of his death was a trustee and had formerly been teacher of the men’s Bible class for a number of years.
He was always regular in attendance and faithful to whatever station he was asked to fill. Their home was always open to ministers and friends and on many occasions their hospitality was enjoyed by the church group.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Carrie; a daughter, Dorothy Wright, a son-in-law, Ned Wright, and one grandson, Larry Wright, all of Kingman.  Also one brother, Claude Ratcliff of Kingman and one sister, Dot Rector of Anderson, Mo., and a number of nieces and nephews. One sister, Lula Orahood preceded him in death Sept. 29, 1946.
