Charles Henderson Ratcliff, 85, retired and well known Kingman banker & farmer, died at St. Elizabeth's hospital, Danville, Il Saturday evening. He had undergone an operation 10 days ago. Born in Parke County near Kingman on Sept 29, 1858 he was the youngest of 7 children of Miles A. and Susan Ewbank Ratcliff. He was first married Jan 2, 1881 to Sarah Jane Henry whose death occured May 30, 1882. He was married a second time on April 10, 1884 to Miss Finetta Clem whose death took place Aug 26, 1910. His 3rd marriage was to Bertha Wilkey on Oct 24, 1914. She also preceded her husbamd June 30, 1932. The survivors include one son, Dale of Lafayette; a grandson, a foster son Scott R of Kingman and a half brother, Miles Ratcliff of near Waynetown. Mr. Ratcliff has spent all his life in the Kingman community with the exception of a few years during which he lived in Veedersburg. He was a member of the Pleas Grove Church and of the Masonic orders in which he held the Scottish Rite degree. Funeral services will be held at the Kingman Christian Church Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock with Rev HA Lashbrook of Terre Haute in charge. The body will lie in state for an hour preceding services. Burial will be in the Kingman Fraternal cemetery.
