Miss Belle Ratcliff, 59, a teacher in the 5th grade at Riley School in Frankfort died at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette Sunday (April 9, 1961) where she had been admitted about a half hour earlier. She had been attending the state convention of the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority during the weekend in Lafayette when she was stricken ill.  Born March 24, 1902 in Kingman, she was the daughter of Anderson and Alvessi Caldwell Ratcliff.  Miss Bell as she was known to those in her classes, had taught school for the past 38 years. She had taught in Frankfort schools for the past 18 years. She was a member of the National Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, Indiana Classroom Teachers, Association of University Women, National Congress of Parents & Teachers, Assn of Childhood Education, Indiana State Teachers Assn, National Education Assn and Frankfort Classroom teachers. She was also a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, Veedersburg DAR Unit, Kingman Christian Church and Fountain Chapter 204 Order of Eastern Star at Kingman. Survivors include a brother, Donald of Cayuga; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.  Services were at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Woodrow Funeral Home. The Rev. Russell Houston officiated with burial in Kingman Fraternal Cemetery. – kbz
