Funeral services for James Franklin Ramey, Sr., age 42, who resided southeast of Covington in the Cooper Chapel neighborhood, were held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, May 19, at the Hegg Funeral Home here. The Rev. Marlston Swango, pastor of the Cooper Chapel Church, officiated and burial was in the Cooper Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Ramey died unexpectedly at 4:30 a. m. Friday, May 17, following a heart attack suffered at his home. He was born in Troy Township April 29, 1915, the son of Charles and Ida Ramey of Covington Rt. 3, formerly residents of Railroad Street. He was married July 3, 1936 to Nina Denton, daughter of Mrs. Audra Denton of Fourth Street, and she survives. Mr. Ramey was a farmer and the family formerly resided on the towpath, south of Covington. He also did carpenter work. He was a member et the Methodist Church in Lafayette. Surviving, in addition to his wife and parents, are: three sons, James Franklin Ramey Jr., Duane Addison and Robert LeRoy, all at home; two foster sons, Charles Hancock and Henry Dolph, at home; one grandson, Jeffrey Ramey; and the following brothers and sisters: Leroy Bellis of Covington Rt. 1, Mrs. Mae Young of Lafayette, Mrs. Beatrice Babb of Covington, Charles Ramey Jr., of Covington Rt. 3, Mrs. Alice Utash of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Jane Suiters of Grenada Hills, Calif., Mrs. Helen Denton of Danville, Ill., Mrs. Betty Keller of Attica, Perry Ramey, a staff sergeant in the Marine Corps, stationed in the Pacific area, and Mrs. Dollie Chapman of Covington Rt. 3.   --typed by Walt W
