COVINGTON — Charles A. “Buck” Ramey, Jr., 84, died at 9:45 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001 in St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital emergency room. He had been a patient at The Waters of Covington for four months. He was born July 20, 1917 in Phillipsburg, N.J., the son of Charles Alfred and Ida Jane Bellis Ramey. He married Barbara D. McLain Jan. 10, 1953 in Crawfordsville. She survives. He was a resident of Covington most of his life and a self-employed carpenter and cabinetmaker. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of V.F.W. Post #2395, American Legion Post #291, Monday night bowling league, and Rivercrest Golf Club. He was an avid golfer. Survivors, besides the wife, include: three sons, Thomas (Gayle) Spring, Michael (Sara Thurlow) Spring, and Timothy W. (Lynn) Ramey, all of Covington; a daughter, Lori (Bruce) Carter, Covington; three sisters, Ann (Leon) Babb, Alice Utash, both of Covington, and Betty Keller, Stone Bluff; a brother, Perry A. Ramey, Mansfield, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters. Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Saturday in Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, with James Smith officiating. Burial was in Coal Creek Cemetery, with military services by V.F.W. Post #2395. – jlr
