Mrs. Maude Gertrude Rafferty, 70, a resident of this community for the past 15 years, died at Westbrook Nursing Home shortly after 11 p.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Rafferty, who had been ill for a long time, had been a patient at the nursing home for only a few hours. Born Dec. 28, 1880, in southern Tippecanoe County, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Arnett. She was married Jan. 15, 1899, at New Richmond to Samuel L. Rafferty. They went to housekeeping at New Richmond but moved to Ridge Farm, Ill., where Mr. Rafferty operated a hardware store from 1911 until 1945. They then moved to Crawfordsville where Mr. Rafferty was employed as a plumber. He retired last fall. Mrs. Rafferty was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church and of the Royal Neighbors Lodge. Survivors include the husband; three sons, B. L. Rafferty of Celina, Ohio; Floyd N. Rafferty of Pontiac, Ill., and Lawrence E. Rafferty of Spokane, Wash.; a sister, Miss Ethel Arnett of Lafayette; two brothers, Emmett Arnett of Bloomington, Ill., and James I. Arnett of Richmond, Va.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, three sisters and a brother. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Bright Funeral Home with Rev. H. C. Loveland of the Trinity Methodist Church in charge. Burial will be in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Rafferty were held Friday afternoon at the Bright Funeral Home. Rev. C. H. Loveland, pastor of the Trinity Methodist Church, officiated. Serving as pallbearers and assisting with the floral tributes were Lester Rafferty of Lafayette; Leslie Rafferty and Harry Rafferty of Logansport; Kenneth Rafferty of Waveland; Clarence Rafferty and Leland Rafferty of Crawfordsville. Curtis E. Bright played requested selections on the organ. Burial was in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Mrs. Rafferty, wife of Samuel L. Rafferty who lived on Country Club Road, died Tuesday night.
