Hillsboro – Rhea Lyons Payne, 61, formerly of Covington and Mellott went to be with the Lord at 1:05 a.m. Wed Oct 15, 1997 in St. Vincent, Williamsport Hospital..  She had been in failing health since May.  She was born in Perrysville March 29 (?) 1936 the daughter of William and Edith Wood Lyons. She married John C. Payne June 11, 1954 in Danville, Ill.  He preceded in death April 23, 1967.  She was raised in Covington and attended Covington HS.  She had lived near Mellott for many years and had resided in Covington Manor Nursing Center since 1983.  She had worked as an assembler at Radio Material Corporation in Attica since she retired ?  She had worked as a news correspondent for the Danville Commercial News, Crawfordsville Journal Review and the Attica Ledger Tribune newspapers. She was a member of the Covington United Methodist Church.  She loved to work crossword puzzles was an avid Indiana University basketball fan, loved watching TV and visiting with family and friends.  Surviving are a daughter, Brenda Payne, Hillsboro; two sons, Levi Payne, Attica; Steve (Tina) Payne, Waynetown; a special friend, Patsy Furr, Lafayette; two sisters, Eileen Newell, Cayuga; Jo Lyons, Covington; three brothers, Lester Lyons, Winter Haven, Fla; Bob Lyons, Clearwater, Fla; Lerlans Lyons, Covington; three granddaughter, Amber, Morgan and Alyson Payne; and two sisters-in-laws, Shirley Lyons, Covington; Bonnie Lyons, Louisville, KY.  She was also preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.  Funeral services will be held at 1pm Saturday in Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro with Pastor Paul Kent officiating.  Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. tonight (Friday).  Memorial contributions may be made at the charity of one’s choice!   –-- kbz
