VEEDERSBURG – Mrs. Gillie Ann Pyle, 86, of Rt. 1, Veedersburg, died at 3 a.m. Monday at the Ben Hur Nursing Home in Crawfordsville. She had been in failing health for almost three years and a patient at the nursing home for three months. Mrs. Pyle had lived at the Veedersburg address for 52 years. She was a member of the New Liberty Christian Church and its Ladies Aid, and also a member of the Wallace Order of Eastern Star. A daughter of William Smith and wife, she was born in Kentucky on Feb. 8, 1881. She was married in 1897 to James G. Pyle who died in 1956. Surviving are two sons, Virgil O. Pyle of Hillsboro and Ernest W. Pyle of Warsaw, Ind.; two daughters, Mrs. Jewell Grimes of Wallace and Mrs. Nellie Stockdale of Danville, Ill.; a brother, Fred Smith of Louisville, Ky.; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Bruce and Mrs. Lillie Miller, both of Cave City, Ky.; 12 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Three brothers preceded her in death. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Rev. William Grimes of Brazil, a grandson of Mrs. Pyle, will be the minister. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. -– jlr
