Tangier, Ind.—Gene Norman Pugh, 46, of Tangier Route 1, died at 1:45 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 10, 1974) at St. Elizabeth hospital. He had been ill the past few months.
George Jones, acting Vermilion County coroner, attributed death to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
He as born May 17, 1928, in Eagle Butte, S.D., the son of John Victor and Faye Edna Konkle Pugh. He was the foster son of Robert Jackson and the late Grace Evelyn Jackson. He was married Sept. 17, 1948, in Cayuga to Edna Grace Thomas, who survives.
Mr. Pugh was a member of the Waterman Baptist Church in Lodi. He was a farmer. Other survivors include two sons, Rodney L. of Tangier and Randal Gene at home; two daughters, Mrs. Monte (Glenda) Ellen Jones of Bloomington and Lynette at home; two sisters, Mrs. Paul (Mary) Ray Jr. of rural Kingman and Mrs. Dorwin (Charlotte) Williams of West Lafayette; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. Services were at 2 p.m. Sunday in the DeVerter Funeral Home, with the Rev. Leon Korb officiating. Burial was at the Rush Creek Cemetery of rural Tangier. -s
