Arnold Prather, 70, of Perrysville, Route 1, died at 6:20 a.m. Jan. 10, 1977 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville. He had been ill some time.
  Born Aug. 10, 1906, near Rileysburg, he was the son of Frederick and Nellie Bennett Prather. He was married Dec. 31, 1927, to Mary Clawson, who survives.
  Mr. Prather was a life resident of Highland Township and graduated from Perrysville High in 1925. He had farmed most of his life.
  He was a former member of Highland Township Advisory Board and served as assistant superintendent of the Vermillion County Highway Department. He also had been a traffic inspector for the Indiana State Highway Department.
  Mr. Prather was a member and served on the board of deacons at the Coal Branch Independent Church. He was a 49-year member and past master of Unity Masonic Lodge 344 and served as a lodge trustee.
  He was a past patron of Perrysville Chapter 302 Order of Eastern Star, a charter member of the Perrysville Lions Club and a member of the Vermillion County High-Low Club. He had been a Democratic Precinct committeeman for South Perrysville Precinct for many years.
  Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Harry (Beverly) Friedlund Jr. of DeKalb, Ill.; a son, Lawrence R. of Covington Route 2; five grandchildren and a great grandchild.
  Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington. The Rev. Grover Williams officiated. Burial was in Hopewell Cemetery. Masonic memorial services were held at 8 p.m. Tuesday. -s

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home at Covington with the Rev. Grover Williams officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday. Masonic memorial services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday.   – jlr
