Funeral services for Mrs. Alice McFarland Prather, age 100, who had resided with her daughter, Mrs. Mark C. Bennett in West Point for the past 12 years, will be held today, Thursday, May 29, at 4 p. m., at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home. Mrs. Prather was born August 8, 1857 in Warren County, the daughter of Enoch and Mary Jane Tomlinson Watkins. She was married to Henry W. Prather on Jan. 17, 1878, and he died in 1934. Mrs. Prather who had been bedfast for the past six years, spent most of her life in and around Covington, and she was a member of the Covington Methodist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Bennett of West Point; one son, Walter Prather of Miami, Fla., four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, one brother and one sister. The Rev. G. Elwood Anderson, pastor of the Covington Methodist Church, will officiate and burial will be in Mt. (CNS)--Mrs. Alice McFarland Prather, 100, a resident of the Covington area most of her life, died at 3:05 p.m. Tuesday ( May 27, 1958) at the home of a daughter in West Point, where she had made her home the past 12 years. She had been ill six years. Born. Aug. 8, 1857, in Warren County, she was a daughter of Enoch and Mary Jane Tomlinson Watkins. She was married to Henry W. Prather Jan. 17, 1878. He preceded her in death in 1934. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Mark C. Bennett of West Point; a son, Walter of Miami; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Two sons, a brother and a sister preceded her in death. She was a member of the Covington Methodist Church. The body is at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home, where friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be Thursday at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. G. Elwood Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family prefers no tributes.
