WILLIAMSPORT — Robert Edward Powell Sr., 86, 4976 West 650 South Road, Williamsport, died 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000 in Country Care Nursing Center, Williamsport. He had resided at the center the past 17 months. He was born Aug. 28, 1913 in Collison, Ill., the son of Marion and Grace Bolton Powell. He married Wilma Ellen Wilkins Aug. 28, 1931. She preceded in death Aug. 17, 1994. He was a resident of rural Williamsport for most of his life, however he had lived in Illinois for a short time. He had been employed at C & D Battery, Attica, for many years. He was a farmer all his life. He was a member of Williams Chapel Church. Survivors include: three sons, Robert E. (Phyllis) Powell Jr., Mike (Carol) Powell and Bruce E. Powell, all of Williamsport; three daughters, Marian (Ramon) Hughes, Covington, Patsy (Jerry) Sager, Brookfield, Mo., Lynne (Clarence) Allmon, Jacksonville, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dorothy Byers; three step brothers; and three step sisters. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday in Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, with the Revs. Mildred Williams and Grover Williams officiating. Burial was in Harveysburg Cemetery, Kingman. – jlr
