Veedersburg- Orville L. “Mick” Powell, 74 of 1014 College St, died at 9 p.m. Wednesday March 10 in his home. Mr. Powell was born Mar  h10, 1919 in Covington.  He married Ruth O. Weaver Nov 2, 1945 and she survives. A WWII Army veteran he served in Africa and Europe.  Following the war, Mr. Powell owned and operated an independent trucking business for 18 years. In 1964 he purchased the Stone Bluff Grain Co. He retired in 1980.  He was a member of the Stone Bluff United Methodist Church and American Legion.  Also surviving are three sons, William Powell of Rt 4, Veedersburg, C. Robert Powell of Hillsboro and Gregory Carl Powell of Veedersburg; three brothers, James Powell of Covington; Austin Powell of Reno, Nev and Albert Powell of Casspolis, Mich; and a sister, Hazel McChesney of South Bend.  Also surviving are three half brothers, Robert Powell of St. Louis; Forrest Powell of El Paso, Texas and Max Powell of Doniphan, Mo; two half sisters, Betty Frye of Doniphan and Wanda Rosenblatt of Taylor, SC; and his stepfather, William I. Green of Veedersburg.

Powell, Orville – Friends may call 5:30 –9 p.m. Saturday Maus Funeral Home, Attica.  Service there 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Paul Ziebart officiating. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington. Surviving are 10 grandchildren.  Preceded in death by a son, Gilbert, a grandson, a stepsister, Elizabeth Green Sutton, 4 brothers, David Mont, Chester Powell, Herbert Powell, Everett Powell and his stepmother, Augusta Green.  Memorial to Christian Educational Services, Indianapolis.
