POWELL, Chester F.

Chester F. Powell of RR 1, Covington, age 73, died Sunday morning, December 26, in Covington Manor Nursing Center. He was born in Warren County, March 28, 1909, the son of James Franklin and Mabel Hickman Powell. June 27, 1932, he married Reatha Grubb who survives. He retired from farming in 1971 and had also hauled livestock and lime many years. Powell was a member of the Covington First Christian Church, where he was a former elder and Sunday school teacher.

  Also surviving are two daughters, Beverly Claypool of Crawfordsville and Virginia Hunsacker of Yale, Illinois; a son, Dale F. Powell of Covington; a sister, Hazel McChesney of South Bend; five brothers, Everett of Hot Springs, South Dakota, James of Covington, Austin of Reno, Nevada, Albert of Cassopolis, Michigan, and Orville of Veedersburg; two half sisters, Betty Frye of Doniphan, Missouri, and Wanda Rosenblatt of Orlando, Florida; three half brothers, Forrest of El Paso, Texas, Max of Doniphan and George of St. Louis, Missouri; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

  Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at the Covington First Christian Church with Rev. Robert Hentrich officiating. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery at Covington. Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home was in charge of services.
