Stephen H. Potter, formerly of Williamsport died last week at his home at Webb City, Mo. Death was caused by tuberculosis which developed as a result of injuries sustained in the World War in France. The deceased was born in Williamsport May 19, 1895 and was 27 years old at the time of his death. He later moved to Missouri. He was among the first to be drafted during the World War and went to camp in September 1917. He went overseas in May 1918 and served first in the 90th Division Field Artillery, being later transferred to the 82nd Division. Just a few days before the signing of the armistice he was wounded in battle at the Argonne Forest and was sent to a hospital in France where he remained until Jan 1919 when he was sent to Ft. McHenry near Baltimore. He was detained here about a year and then discharged but had been under the government’s car ever since. The deceased is survived by a father, a step mother and a half brother, all of Missouri also three sisters: Mrs. Arch Clawson of this city, Mrs. Arthur Odle of Williamsport and Miss Mary Potter of Webb City MO and three brothers, Dewey, Robert and John Potter of Warren County. Mr. and Mrs. Tobias Hartz of Kramer are the grandparents of the deceased.
