Mertie Pyle Pittman, 83, Route 1, Williamsport, died at 7:52 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 3 at Hoopeston Memorial Hospital, Hoopeston, Ill. She was born April 15, 1901, in Forbus, Tenn., the daughter of Floyd and Lucy Rule Pyle. She was married to Bennie F. Pittman, Feb. 28, 1920, in Byrdstown, Tenn. He survives. She was a member of the Methodist Church of Ambia. Also surviving are one son, Eugene Pittman, Ladoga, and one daughter, Mrs. Gordon (Lucille) Myers, Newport, Rhode Island; three brothers, James Pyle, Hoopeston, Ill.; Early Pyle, Byrdstown, Tenn., and William Pyle, Jamestown, Tenn.; one sister, Mrs. Baily (Marie) Crouch, Pall Mall, Tenn.; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and two sisters. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. EST Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Brown-Alkire Funeral Home in Hoopeston. The Rev. Dennis Hensley will officiate. Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery, Hoopeston. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 5, and 7 to 9 p.m. EST Tuesday, Feb. 5. - kbz
