VEEDERSBURG, Ind. —John William Pickett, 73, of Veedersburg was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville at noon yesterday (Dec. 26, 1967). Death was attributed to a heart attack. He had been in ill health the past year. Born June 19, 1895 at Marshfield, he was the son of George and Winona Ryle Pickett. He moved to Veedersburg with his parents in early childhood. Mr. Pickett married Carrie M. Florey Oct. 1, 1920, who survives. He had been employed at the Waynetown Tile Co. until his retirement a year ago. Other survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Wilma Mynes of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Ann Cushman of Paris, Ill., Mrs. Frieda Rich of Scott Air Force Base, Belleville, Mrs. Delores Newlin of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Kathryn Lamb of Tangier and Mrs. Betty Hudson of Veedersburg; two sons, Robert of Covington and Dean at home; three sisters, Mrs. Vestal Griskell of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Eilene Tibbett of Attica and Mrs. Sylvia Hancock of Veedersburg; a half sister, Mrs. Ruth Allen of Attica; a half brother, Arnold Pickett of Veedersburg; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Fishero Funeral Home with the Rev. James Dyson officiating. Burial will be in Bonebrake Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday. --typed by Walt W
