VEEDERSBURG — George W. Pickett, 71, Veedersburg, died at 2:25 p.m. on Aug. 26, 1999 at the Indiana Soldiers Home in West Lafayette. Born Oct. 2, 1927, in Clinton, he was the son of Ivan L. and Cecile Mae Brown Pickett. He married Judy Ann Carr Oct. 2, 1927, in Fountain County. She preceded him in death in 1994. He was a lineman for Bell Telephone Co. He was a member of the Attica Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a U. S. Navy veteran of WW II. Survivors include: son, George W. (Jacqueline) Pickett, Sugar Hill, Georgia; daughters, Veronica Sue (Ben) Keller, Wingate, and Rebecca Lynn Pickett of Veedersburg; stepson, Randy Lee Carr, Indiana; brother, Howard Pickett, Rochester, Wash.; sister, Thelma L. Flagg, Washington; 12 grandchildren; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife and one brother. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Monday at the Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Rev. David Frazeur officiating. Burial was at Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg, with military rites conducted by the Attica V.F.W. – jlr
