JOHN S. PICKARD Sr. aged 84 years, died at his home near Tangier yesterday morning about four o’clock. He had been in critical condition for several weeks and his demise did not come as a great surprise to his many relatives and friends. Prior to his death it was thought that the aged man was suffering from a tumor, but after his death an autopsy revealed gall stones.
John Sidney, as he was most familiarly known to the people of this community, was one of the most conscientious old gentlemen we have ever met. He was a splendid neighbor and aided considerable in the upbuilding of the county and township in which he lived.
He is survived by four children, two sons and two daughters. Funeral services will be held at the house at ten o’clock Saturday morning after which the remains will be laid to rest in the Pickard cemetery.
