Funeral services for Ted O. Philpott, 77 native of Veedersburg were conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Flanner & Buchanan Mortuary at Indianapolis. Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery there. Mr. Philpott died Sunday in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. He had been a resident of Indianapolis the past 50 years and was owner and president of American Art Clay Co. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 479 of Veedersburg and number of organizaitons at Indianapolis. He was a graduate of VHS and Purdue School of Pharmacy. A big game hunter, he hunted in a number of foreign countries and brought several animals back to this country, many of which he gave to the Indianapolis Zoo. Born in Veedersburg, he was a son of Harris and Flora Lough Philpott. Survivors include the widow, Florence K, a daughter, Mrs. Valerie Sandoe; a stepson Robert K. Dalrymple; a niece Mrs. Mildred Breedlove and seven grandchildren, all of Indianapolis. - kbz

Ted. O. Philpott, manufacturer and big-game hunter who would have been 78 years old next Sunday died yesterday in Methodist Hospital after a weeks’ illness. Mr. Philpott, 5206 Grandview Drive was owner and president of the American Clay Company 4717 W. 16th St which he founded. He had taken part in several safaris and he had given several animals to the Indianapolis Zoo. His gifts included a Grevy’s zebra stallion, a serval (long-legged spotted cat from Africa) and just last week donated two full-grown lions which were born in a zoo he maintained near his plant. Born at Yeddo in Fountain County, Mr. Philpott had lived in Indianapolis 50 years. American Art Clay Company manufacturers general art material and educational ceramics which are used in classrooms and homes throughout then nation. He was a member of Highland Golf & Country Club; Indianapolis Athletic Club; Indianapolis Press Club; Rotary Club; Indiana Society of Chicago and Scottish Rite & Murat Shrine in Indianapolis and Masonic Lodge at Veedersburg. Mr. Philpott was graduated from Purdue University before entering business for himself was a practicing registered pharmacist. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Flanner & Buchanan Fall Creek Mortuary. Entombment will be in the Crown Hill Mausoleum. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon today. Survivors include the widow, Florence K. Philpott; a daughter, Mrs. L. Bond Sandoe, Jr.; a stepson, Robert K. Dalrymple; a niece, Mrs. Mildred Breedlove and seven grandchildren, all of Indianapolis.
