James Odean Phelps, 55, RR 1, Attica, died at 4:16 a.m. Tuesday, November 1, at Williamsport Community Hospital.
He was born November 30, 1927 in Morgantown, Kentucky, the son of Elwood and Bonnie Embry Phelps. December 7, 1949, he married Wilma Tines of Morgantown, who survives. A resident of Attica the past year, he had lived in Bismarck, Illinois for 20 years. He worked for 17 years at Harrison Steel Casting Company of Attica and was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Kentucky.
Other survivors include two sons, James W. Phelps of Henning, Illinois, and Edwin D. Phelps of Morgantown, Kentucky; a daughter, Sheila Kay of Attica; his mother of Bowling Green, Kentucky; three brothers, Bill Phelps of Rough River, Kentucky, Robert Phelps of Owensboro, Kentucky; and Ray Phelps of Bowling Green; three sisters, Bertha Roberts and Mary Phelps, both of Bowling Green; and Emily Kamber of Louisville; and three grandchildren.
Services will be conducted Friday at Sandy Creek Baptist Church in Morgantown with burial in Sandy Creek Cemetery there. – thanks to S
