WILLIAMSPORT — Jack R. Phelps, 59, Williamsport, died at 1:35 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001 in St. Vincent Hospice, Indianapolis. He had been in failing health the last four months. He was born Nov. 18, 1941 in Lafayette, the son of Herbert Lee and Vera Balensiefer Phelps. He married Becky Allen July 1, 1961 in Attica. She survives. He was a lifelong resident of Warren County. He was a graduate of Seeger High School. He worked for Flexel for 30 years. He was a member of the Indiana National Guard and enjoyed woodworking. Survivors, besides the wife, include: his mother, Vera Phelps, Williamsport; three sons, Anthony Phelps, Williamsport, Curtis (Lisa L.) Phelps and Stephen (Lisa A.) Phelps, both of Attica; a daughter, Rachel (Jim) Coe, Belle Center, Ohio; a brother, Gerald (Vanda) Phelps, Covington; a sister, Sherrie Phelps, Phoenix, Ariz.; and 13 grandchildren, Brandon and Justin Phelps, Ryan, Kara, Janine, Quinton, Jackson and Conner Phelps, Austin and Whitney Phelps, Jonathan, Ashley and Joshua Coe. Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday in Grady Funeral Home, Williamsport. There will be no services. Memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent Hospital Foundation (the Hill-Burton Program).
