PERRIN, Charles Corwin

Rev. Charles Corwin Perrin, age 81, died Sunday at the home of his son, Robert B. Perrin in Evansville following a long illness. Private services in charge of Rev. AL  Ward will be held at the Coaltrin Funeral Home in this city at 2 p.m. Wednesday and burial will follow in Crowland cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary before the hour for the service. Rev. Perrin was born in Fountain County near Attica, son of J. Henry and Anna (Morris) Perrin.  He taught school in Veedersburg and Attica and among his pupils was the late Congressman, Fred Purnell.  The deceased lived with the Purnell family while he taught in Attica. Then he studied for the ministry at the Union Christian College at Merom, Ind and while there he met Miss Cora Evaline Belk and later they were married. He entered the ministry and during the years which followed he held charges in Indiana and Illinois.  He then returned to his profession of teaching school which he followed for 23 years and later reentered the ministry from which he retired in 1933. Mrs Perrin passed away in Noblesville July 12, 1934. Rev. Perrin lived in Noblesville 8 years. About 6 years ago he went to Evansville, where he remained until his death. Six children survive.  They are Mrs. Ray Gatewood and Mrs. Fred Thomas of Noblesville; Miss Sarah Perrin of Fortville; James F. Perrin of Washington DC formerly of Noblesville; and Charles Corwin Perrin, Jr. and Robert B. Perrin of Evansville. Brothers and sisters who survive include Oliver M. Perrin of Crawfordsville; Harry Perrin of Argus; Mrs. Alice Strader and Mrs. Clara Perrin of Fountain County and Mrs. Bertha Hall of Advance. The grandchildren who survive are Jane Thomas of Indianapolis and Georgia Elizabeth Perrin and David Perrin of Evansville. – thanks to Laura K. for this one.
