Newport—Marie M. Peer, 79, Newport, died at 9:25 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, 1989 at Vermillion Convalescent Center, Clinton. She had been in failing health for the past two months.
She was born March 26, 1910 in Newport, the daughter of James and Merta Lawson Davis. She was married June 12, 1926 in Rockville to Harry W Peer, who preceded her in death Sept. 27, 1987.
She was a homemaker.
Surviving are three sons, James, West Lafayette; John, Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Paul, West Lebanon; three daughters, Clara May Sollars and Marjorie Bauer, both of Marion, and Sarah Peer, Tangier; 24 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; one sister, Cecil Harrier, Tangier, and two brothers, Vern Davis, Tilton, Ill., and James Francis Davis, Danville, Ill. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Iva Rhea in 1938, one granddaughter, Sarah Peer, in 1962, and one sister.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at DeVerter Brothers Funeral Home, Cayuga, with Paul Ray Jr. officiating. Burial was in Miller Cemetery, Lodi. – thanks to S
