Knox – Gerald D. Peek, 65 of Rt 1, died at 4:20 a.m. today at home after a year’s illness. He was born in Mellott, Ind June 26, 1914. He was married on March 19, 1948 at South Holland, Ill to Florence Hekkema who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Shirley Casey of San Diego, Mrs. Barbar Gildersleeve of Dyer, Ind and Mrs. Marion Taczkowski of Lowell, Ind; two sons, Albert of Lowell and Gerald Jr. of Knox; 9 grandchildren; a great grandchild; his mother, Mrs. Myrtle Peek of Lafayette; three brothers, Donald of Indianapolis, Homer of Battle Creek and Malcolm of Wanatah; four sisters, Mrs. Sylvia Wilkerson of Lafayette; Mrs. Mildred Parrish of Racine, Wis; Mrs. Frances Boots of Lafayette and Mrs. Anna Corker of Richmond, VA. He was a retired operating engineer at Gatlin Co, Griffith. He was a member of First United Presbyterian Church of Dyer and the Dyer Lions Club. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Fagen Miller Funeral Home at Dyer with Rev. James P. Uttley, pastor of the First United Presbyterian Church of Dyer officiating. Burial will be in Skyline Memorial Park, Monee, Ill. Friends may call from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Fagen Miller Funeral Home at Dyer. Memorials may be given to the First United Presbyterian Church of Dyer. – kbz
