Willis Franklin Pearson, 68, died at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday May 30, 1961 at his home in the Wingate community following a two-month illness.  Born July 13, 1892 at Wingate he was the son of Bowater and Rebecca Faulkner Pearson.  He was married in 1913 to Mabel Largent at Veedersburg.  Mr. Pearson was a life resident of the Wingate community and had been employed as a laborer. He was a member of the Center Christian Church.  Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Geneva Ferguson of Frankfort and Mrs. Minnie Gayler of Wingate; a son, Lawrence of Crawfordsville Rt 6 and five grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by two sons. Services were at 2 p.m. Friday at the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown. The Rev. Carl Nesbitt officiated with burial in Green Lawn Cemetery at Wingate. – kbz

WINGATE -- Willis F. Pearson of Wingate, who had been ill for about two months, died Tuesday night at his home. He was 68. He was born July 13, 1892, at Wingate and lived all his life here. His parents were Bowther (sic) and Rebecca Faulkner Pearson. He was married to Mable Largent of Veedersburg in 1913 and was a member of Center Christian Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Geneva Ferguson of Frankfort and Mrs. Minnie Gayler of Wingate; a son, Lawrence Pearson of Rt. 6, Crawfordsville, five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown with Rev. Carl Nisbeth (sic) of the Wingate Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery at Wingate. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday.
