COVINGTON — Evelyn Alvina Parrett, 84 died at 4:50 p.m. Friday November 9, 2007 at The Waters of Covington after being in failing health for many years. She was born January 30, 1923 at Fosston, Polk County, Minn., the daughter of Adolph M. and Laura Rotness Tangen and was baptized in the Lutheran faith. She resided in Covington since 1961 and formerly lived at Pensacola, Fla., and Norfolk, Va. Evelyn was a homemaker who enjoyed her family and grandchildren; loved walking in her yard and all kinds of flowers. September 11, 1954 Evelyn was united in marriage to James Edward Parrett of Covington at a Lutheran Church in Indianapolis. He survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Peggy Lee (Jason) Hayman of Covington, Debbie (Dave) Clabaugh of Champaign, Ill., a son Herbert Lee (Kim) Parrett of Elkin, N.C.; a sister Amanda Sandess of Culpepper, Va.; a brother Arlin Dennis Tangen of Bemidji, Minn.; seven grandchildren and four step grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by parents, two brothers, and two sisters Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday November 13 in Mt. Hope Cemetery with Sam Guilliams officiating. Shelby Funeral Home is in charge of the services. – jlr
