Mrs. Grace Marie Parks, age 67, wife of the Rev. Colon E. Parks, minister of the Gessie EUB Church died at 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 31, at her home in Gessie. She had been in failing health eight years and seriously ill three months. She was born April 20, 1896, in Red Key, Jay County, Ind., the daughter of John and Mary Shepard Maxwell. She was married Dec. 22, 1926 to the Rev. Parks, who survives. Mrs. Parks had been an elementary school teacher 21 years and had taught in Blackford County and the Hartford City area. She had been a resident of Gessie since July 16, 1960 and had previously resided in Saratoga, Ind. Mrs. Parks was a member of the Gessie EUB Church and the Highland Twp. Home Demonstration Club. Surviving in addition to her husband are: one son the Rev. John R. Parks pastor of the Main Street Methodist Church of Logansport; four grandchildren; her mother Maxwell of Hartford City, Mrs. Frances Wilson of Montpelier, Mrs. Jessie Knoop of Elwood, Mrs. Georgia Spitler of Dayton, Ohio, and Mrs. Juanita Hughes of Hartford City, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father. Two complete funeral services were conducted on Sunday, June 3. The first was at 10 a.m. at the Hegg Funeral Home here where the Rev. Dr. Robert Koenig officiated. He was assisted by the Rev. J. S. Pritchard of Veedersburg and the Rev. Robert Carey of Kingman. The pallbearers were Robert Crist, Kenneth Gouty, Forrest Hughes, Harold Hughes, Robert Snavely and Gene Hicks, all of this area. The second service was conducted at 3 p.m. at the EUB Church in Hartford City where the Rev. Russell Hiatt officiated. He was assisted by the Rev. Stutts and the Rev. Dr. Merryman. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Hartford City. The pallbearers were the Rev. Conley E. Rowland, the Rev. J. Samuel Pritchard, the Rev. Ralph E. Bowman, the Rev. Loran L. Ratt, the Rev. Howard Pearson and Harry Stallsmith.   --typed by Walt W
