Harold S. Parkman, age 75, a resident of Logansport Rt. 6 and a former resident of Covington, was suffocated Sunday night, April 22, when flames spread through his two-story frame home. An over-heated coal-burning space heater was blamed for the fire. When the Parkmans lived in Covington, on Washington St., near Ninth St., Mr. Parkman was employed as a telegrapher for the Wabash Railroad in the old depot on Washington St. He was a telegrapher there for years and his wife served in that capacity for some time after he was transferred. The Parkmans had three children, two daughters, Ruth and Grace, and a son, George, who resides in Peru. Their daughter Ruth is married to William (Bill) Derringer Jr., brother of Chris and Ray Derringer of Covington, and they live in Lafayette. Information concerning the funeral was not available here today. --typed by Walt W
