Indianapolis – Eileen (Campbell) Parker, 97, Indianapolis, passed away peacefully at home on Oct 14, 2022. Mrs. Parker was born in Stringtown (Fountain County) Indiana on October 15, 1924, the oldest child of Robert Glen and Freida Marie (Jarred) Campbell. A strong and hardworking young lady, she graduated as valedictorian of her class from Kingman HS and attended Butler University. An interest that was piqued when flying with a barnstormer, Eileen also took flying lessons early in life. She began a successful career that spanned 42 years, retiring in 1983 as a switching equipment technician. After a brief stint as a retiree, she turned to work with Deluxe Checking. She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church – formerly at Mt. Olive and most recently at Bridgeport United Methodist Church. Eileen was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Telephone Pioneers of America, Ripley and Fountain County Historical Societies and was an avid genealogy researcher. She and her late husband, Gerald, traveled to 49 states. She will be fondly remembered by her loving family for her strong faith, love, patience and selflessness. An exceptionally kind lady who led by example will be forever remembered by her loved one. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Parker; brother, Robert Campbell; sister, Lila Lubker. Survivors include her children, Bruce (Dev) Parker, Dale Parker, Carl Parker, Nancy (John) Phillips, and Sharon (Tim) Colbert; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; two nephews and one niece. Visitation will be Friday, Oct 21, 2002 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Bridgeport United Methodist Church, 1305 Bridgeport Road, Indianapolis, 46231. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Lincoln Memory Gardens, Whitestown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bridgeport United Methodist Church.
