Orange Layton Palin, 87, a life long resident of Fountain County and retired farmer of the Newtown community died at 5:45 p.m. Monday in Williamsport Community Hospital.  He had been taken to the hospital on Saturday.  Mr. Palin was born Feb 25, 1864 the son of Augusta and Nancy Holland Palin.  He was married on March 12, 1891 to Cora Florey who died in 1927.  He was married a second time on June 11, 1934 to his first wife’s sister, Hollis Florey who survives with a daughter, Mrs. Sarah Smith of near Newtown; a foster son, George Lawton of Newtown; a brother, FF Palin of Indianapolis; two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Dixon of Chicago and Mrs. Josephine Henderson of Detroit; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Newtown Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. William Blessing. Burial took place in the Old Baptist Cemetery west of Newtown. – kbz
