Harry W. Palin, 65 of Newtown passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette about 10 p.m. Wednesday July 5, 1961. He had become ill Wednesday morning and was taken to the hospital. Mr. Palin, a retired farmer was born Sept 19, 1895. He was the son of Hiram H. and Lottie E. Scott Palin. He married Hallie Stockdale July 12, 1921. He had lived in the same house east of Newtown practically all of his life. Survivors include his wife, five daughters, Mrs. Maxine Williams of Hubert, NC; Mrs. Mildred Marlyn Pierce of Plainfield, Willa Palin of Rantoul, Ill; Mrs. Vivian Balliett of Santa Maria, Calif; two sons, Dale of the US Navy and Donald of Mellott; two sisters, Helen Palin of Phoenix, Ariz and Mrs. Inez DeVault of New Richmond; two brothers, Ben of Newtown and Scott of Mellott and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Morris Lee. Funeral services were Saturday at the Crumley Funeral Home, Hillsboro. Interment was in the Wingate Pleasant Hills Cemetery. - kbz
NEWTOWN (CNS)โHarry Willis Palin, 65, a life resident of the farm east of Newtown where he was born, died at 10 p.m. Wednesday (June 28, 1961) at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette following several years of failing health. Born Sept. 19, 1895, he was the son of Hiram and Lottie E. Scott Palin. He was married July 12, 1921 to Hallie Stockdale, who survives. Other survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Maxine Williams of Hubert, N. C., Mrs. Mildred Martin of New Richmond, Mrs. Marilyn Pierce of Plainfield, Miss Willa Palin of Rantoul and Mrs. Vivian Balliet of Santa Maria, Calif.; two sons, Donald of Mellott and Dale in the Navy; two brothers, Scott of Mellott and Ben of Newtown; two sisters, Miss Helen Palin of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Inez DeVault of New Richmond; and nine grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Crumley Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Wingate.
