MELLOTT — Mrs. Zara Jeanette Painter, longtime resident of the Mellott community, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette. Mrs. Painter, 60, suffered from a lingering illness, and was admitted to the hospital only two days before her death. Her husband, Carl Painter, survives. The couple had lived in Mellott for over 10 years. Born on July 12, 1908, in Dewey, Ill., she was the daughter of Arnie and Ethel Anderson. She was reared in Dewey, and at the time of her death held membership in the Methodist Church there. Her marriage to Mr. Painter, also of Dewey, was solemnized on May 15, 1925, in Champaign. Surviving besides the husband are three sons, Charles of Newtown, Robert of Crawfordsville and Kenneth of Covington; three daughters, Mrs. Ethel Bennett of Attica, Mrs. Doris Cotten of Newtown, and Mrs. Eva Powell of Lafayette; a sister, Mrs. Nettie Trotter of Danville, Ill.; 17 grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her son in 1950, and also by a brother and a half sister. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro, and burial will be in the Willow Brook Cemetery near Fisher, Ill. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday at the family home in Mellott.   --typed by Walt W

MELLOTT - Mrs. Zara Jeanette Anderson Painter, age 60, of Mellott, died at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette where she had been a patient since Monday.  She had been ill for some time.
Mrs. Painter was born July 12, 1908, in Dewey, Ill., the daughter of Arnie and Ethel Anderson.  She was married May 15, 1925, in Champaign, Ill., to Carl Painter, who survives.  They had lived in Mellott the past 10 years.  She was a member of
the Methodist Church in Dewey, Ill.
Surviving, in addition to the husband, are: three daughters, Mrs. Leslie (Ethel) Bennett of Attica, Mrs. James (Doris) Cotten of Newtown, and Mrs. Donald (Eva) Powell of Lafayette; three sons, Charles of Newtown, Robert of Crawfordsville and Kenneth of Covington; one sister, Mrs, Nettie Trotter of Danville, Ill.; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  She was preceded in death by one son, one brother and a half-sister.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro.  Burial was in the Willow  Brooks Cemetery at Fisher, Ill.
