COVINGTON - Orville E. Owen age 44, of Danville, Ill., brother of Mrs. Joe (Mary Ann) Tanner and Robert Owens of Covington, died at 10:15 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, shortly after being taken to Lake View Memorial Hospital in Danville. Death was from a heart ailment and he had been ill two months.
He was born April 21, 1923, in Fairmount, Ill., the son of Ishmael and Ethel Deering Owens. He wad married Sept 8, 1945, in France to Louise Thomas, who survives.
Also surviving are: one daughter, Denise, at home; two sons, Tom, at home, and Dale in the Navy at Charleston, S. C.; his mother, Mrs. Ethel Owens of Perrysville; two sisters, Mrs. Betty Martin of Danville and Mrs. Tanner of Covington; four brothers Kenneth of Danville, Max of Perrysville, Robert of Covington and Ishmael Jr. of Newport, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father. Mr. Owens had been employed at the General Motors plant 20 years. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 579. He managed the Catlin Trap and Gun Club in the summer months and was a member of the American Trap Association. He served in an armored division in World War II.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Berhalter Funeral Home in Danville. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Park north of Danville.
