WILLIAMSPORT — Geneva A. (Shields) Ottinger, 93, a long time resident of Williamsport, died at 12:38 a.m. Sunday, July 9, 2000 in Woodland Manor Nursing Center, Attica. She had been in failing health the past year. She was born July 12, 1906 in West Lebanon, the daughter of James Thomas and Grace Pennell Sheilds. She married Orval “Bun” Ottinger July 26, 1924 in Williamsport. He was a butcher and meat cutter and owner/operator of a grocery store. He preceded in death Jan. 4, 1985. She had lived in Warren County all her life and in the West Lebanon area several years before moving to Williamsport in 1937. She attended West Lebanon schools. She was a telephone operator for State Line Telephone Company and Indiana Bell, retiring in 1971. She was a member of the Williamsport Christian Church and the Bunco Club. She loved to crochet, work crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. Survivors include: a son, James E. (Beverly) Ottinger, Williamsport; a daughter, Mary Lou Duncan, Williamsport; five grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Helen Louise and a brother and two sisters. Private services for the family was at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Fisher Funeral Home, Williamsport, with the Rev. Don Williams officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Williamsport. Memorial donations may be made to the Williamsport/Washington Township Library Building Fund. – jlr
