Freeman Osborn, 84 retired Hillsboro business man was found dead in bed Monday morning July 9 at the family home in Hillsboro by a daughter Miss Lois Osborn who made her home with her father. He had been in failing health for more than a year. Mr. Osborn was born on a farm west of Hillsboro Jan 20, 1867, the son of Ezra M. and Catherine Applegate Osborn. On June 30, 1897 he was married to Sue Weidman who died in March 1943. He was a member of the Hillsboro Christian church. Mr. Osborn and his father organized the Hillsboro Lumber Company in 1896 and he was in charge until 20 years ago when he retired. Since that time his son T. Noel and Marion Osborn have been in charge. Surviving besides the daughter, Miss Lois, who resided at the home place with her father were four sons: Dale Osborn, Santa Rosa, Calif; Sheldon Osborn, Pullman, Wash; T. Noel Osborn of Covington and Marion R. Osborn of Hillsboro and six grandchildren. He was the last survivor of his immediate family. Funeral services were held from the family home in Hillsboro at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Paul Million, pastor of the First Christian Church of Crawfordsville in charge. Crumley Funeral Home was in charge of the burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro. - kbz
