Rev. Kenneth Orvis, Methodist Minister dies at 68 The Rev. Kenneth W. Orvis, 68, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, died early Friday morning Sept 14, 1973, at his home 421 Ave F. Coroner Don C. Goodwin ruled that death was due to natural causes. Rev. Orvis had been a life member of Vermillion Heights United Methodist Church. He had formerly worked for 25 years at Paxton Wholesale Grocery Co. He was born March 17, 1905, in Bloomingdale, Ind the son of Lawrence A. and Effie Wallace Orvis. He was first married June 1938 to Gladys Johnson and she died in 1962. He was married May 2,1973 to Susie Miller Spears, and she survives. Other survivors are two sons, Kenneth Jr. and William Robert of Danville; 3 grandchildren 3 step grandchildren and 3 sisters, Mrs. Russell (Geneva) Martin of Danville; Miss Oveda Orvis of Chicago and Mrs. Naomi Davidson of Temple City, Calif. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church. The Rev. Perry Bishop will officiate, and burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Lakeside Funeral Chapel. --(probably thanks to Betty Dotson - she rocks - we have so much fun researching together!
