Perrysville, Ind.—Orvil R. Olmsted, 79, of Perrysville, Ind. Route 1, died at 5:45 a.m. today at the Americana Nursing Home in Danville, where he had been a patient since June 29. He had been in ill health for one year.

  He was born Dec. 27, 1894 in Catlin, the son of Albert L. and Kathleen Runyon Olmsted. He married Adline M. Kurh Sept. 13, 1919, in Detroit, who survives.

  He was a graduate of Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh. He had an architect office in Detroit from 1919-1930. He also worked with the New York Architectural Office in Albany and the Public Works Administration Housing Division in Arlington, Va.    

  He was the regional director of the PWA Housing Division in Chicago from 1942-1949 and the assistant commissioner of the Public Housing Authority in Washington from 1949 until he retired in 1960. He moved to Perrysville upon his retirement.

  He was a member of the Catlin Christian Church, Tau Sigma Delta Honorary for architects, and in 1966 received a life membership in the National association of Housing Development officials. He was a World War I veteran of the Army.     Other survivors include a son, George L. Olmsted of Fairfax, Va.; two brothers, Ward L. and Frederick, both of Connersville, Ind., and Mrs. Wales (Frances) Goodwin of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and a grandson.

  Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Lakeside Funeral Chapel in Danville. The Rev. Marshall Hayden will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Catlin. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
  The family has requested that any memorials be made in the form of contributions to the Danville Chapter of the Cancer Society.
