Larry Joe Oland, 63, of Las Vegas and formerly of Lafayette, died at 4:32 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006 in Desert Springs Hospital in Las Vegas. Born May 23, 1943, in Attica, he was the son of the late Harold M. and Thelma L. Swank Oland. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Lafayette in 1963. He married Joyce Oland on Dec. 19, 1997 in Lafayette, and she survives. Mr. Oland worked in maintenance at Alcoa for 36 years, retiring in December 1998. He also worked part-time for Showtime Tours Bus Line in Las Vegas. He enjoyed golf, fishing, bowling, and traveling. Surviving with his wife are a son, Nick Oland of Crown Point, Ind.; daughters, Gina Oland, Julie O'Guinn (husband: Doug) and Brenda Cruea (husband: Bryan), all of Lafayette, Kimberly Oland of Mulberry and Jamie Kay Barton of Las Vegas; stepchildren, Debi Oland of Brookston, Tammy Blickenstaff (husband: Karl) and Mike Skinner, both of Lafayette; brothers Jim Oland (wife: Donna) of Lebanon and Jerry Oland (wife:Sherry) of Lafayette; and a sister, Vicki Oland of Lafayette. Also surviving are grandchildren, Cortney, Cory, and Colton Oland, Ashley Kalenberger, Raegan and Jason O'Guinn, Peyton and Carson Cruea, Madison Blickenstaff, Travis, Josh, and Zach Martin, Caylin and Max Davis and Kamden Oland. Visitation was held in Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd on Sunday with service there on Monday. Pastor Matt White officiating. Interment Battle Ground Cemetery.
