OLAND, Harold

Retired Lafayette city building inspector, Harold M. Oland, 70 of 353 S. County Road 675 E, died at 11:47 a.m. Monday in Home Hospital. He had been hospitalized one week and in ill health the past six months. Born in Warren County, he was reared in Lafayette and lived in Attica prior to returning to Lafayette in 1950. He was married in 1936, in Attica to Thelma L. Swank, who survives. Mr. Oland served as city building inspector for three years, retiring in 1979. Prior to that he was employed at Kettlehut Construction Company for 30 years, returing in 1976 as general superintendent. An Army veteran of WWII, he served in the European Theater and was wounded in Germany. He received a Purple Heart. lMr. Oland was a member of Brady Lane Church of Christ, Carpenters Local 215, VFW 1154 and DAV. Surviving with the widow are a daughter, Miss Vickie Oland; three sons, James T, Jerry L and Larry J. Oldand and his mother Mrs. Arletta Oland, all of Lafayette. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Morris (Marjorie) Hayes of Danville, Ill and Mrs. Wayne (Willa ROse) Oteham of Monticello; and a brother, Leroy Oland of Crawfordsville - kbz
