MYERS, Ruby Smail

Ruby L. Myers, 71, of Elliott Apts., Covington, passed away at 4:35 p.m. Sunday, January 28, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Danville, Ill., where she had been hospitalized for nine days.

She was born on April 16, 1907, in Covington, the daughter of Herschel and Grace Richey Smail.

She was married in March of 1930 to Horace B. Myers, who preceded in death in August 1958.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. John (Jacqueline) Bean of Danville, Ill.; two sons, Ed Myers of Covington and Mark Lee Myers of Fort Wayne; and seven grandchildren.

She was a member of the Fifth St. Church of Christ in Covington. She was employed at Hegg’s Courthouse Café as a waitress. She had worked at the old bakery, and the Warrick Courthouse Café. She enjoyed fishing and mushrooming.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 31 at the DeVerter Funeral Home, Covington, with the Rev. Bob Hamblen officiating. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery, Covington. – thanks to “S”
