Veedersburg, Ind. (CNS) --- Mrs. Hazel Myers, 76, of Veedersburg, died at 7 a.m. today (Sept. 26, 1967) in Carle Clinic at Urbana, Ill., where she had been a patient one month. She had been ill three months. Born May 27, 1891, in Fountain County, she was a daughter of Henry and Laura Lough Purnell. She was graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1910 and was a graduate of De Pauw University at Greencastle. She was a teacher in the Sterling Grade School for four years. She was married May 18, 1916, to Herman L. Myers who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Herman J. of Winter Haven, Fla., and Eston and Robert of Waveland; three daughters, Mrs. Eleanor Marietta of Clinton, Mrs. Susan Cronkhite of Crawfordsville, and Mrs. Martha Holmes of Veedersburg; 23 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons and a sister. Mrs. Myers was a member of the Scotts Prairie Christian Church, a member and officer of the Fountain County Home Demonstration Club, the Millcreek Township Home Demonstration Club and the Valetta Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star in Veedersburg. Friends will be received at the Parham Funeral Home, Veedersburg, after 2 p.m. Wednesday. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Stanley Hicks officiating. VEEDERSBURG - Mrs. Hazel Myers, 76, of Veedersburg, died at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, at the Carle Clinic at Urbana, Ill., where she bad been a patient one month and ill three months.
Mrs. Myers was born in Fountain County May 27, 1891, the daughter of Henry and Laura Lough Purnell. She was graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1910 and later from DePauw University, Greencastle. She was a teacher in the Sterling Grade School for several years. Mrs. Myers was a member of Scott's Prairie Christian Church, a member and officer of the Fountain County Home Demonstration Club, the Millcreek Home Demonstration Club and Valetta Chapter OES of Veedersburg. She was married May 18, 1916 to Herman L. Myers, who survives.
