Harriet Alward Myers, the daughter of Ira and Mary Harrison Alward was born in Ft Co IN near Wallace on Oct 12, 1848 and departed this life Oct 13, 1943 at age 95 years 3 days. Her father came to this country from Morristown NJ when a young man and her mother from Ky. She was married to Josiah D. Myers 1867 and came to live in the Myers home adjoining Centennial Church. Her husband preceded her in death in 1910. To this union 7 children were born: two of Stockdale of Frankfort Indiana; and Mrs. Harry MacKinsie of Chicago Il. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mahala Bruner and Mrs. Ella Philpott as well as 14 grandch and 27 great grandchildren.. Aunt Harriet, as she is familiarly known became a member of Centennial Church during her early married life and her home was an open door to ministers and church members at all times, as well as to her neighbors & friends. During her entire life this pioneer mother was widely known for unselfishness & generosity, especially to those in need. No sacrifice was too great for her to make for her children, her relatives & her friends who sadly miss her love and her cheerful spirit. For the past 5 years she has been cared for in the home of her nieces, Mrs. Sarah Smith whose untiring care and devotion are deeply and sincerly appreciated by the family.
