VEEDERSBURG — Frances Eleanor Myers, 85, died at 10:20 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 1999 in Culver Union Hospital, Crawfordsville. Born Jan. 16, 1914 in Goshen, she was the daughter of Charles Kinzey and Mary Eleanor Bacon Baldwin. After the death of her father her mother married Albert Brandenburg The Rev. Brandenburg was assigned to Covington Methodist Church and Frances graduated from Covington High School in 1932. She married Wisher Myers Sept. 15, 1934 in the First Methodist Episcopal Church in Covington with her step-father officiating. After several years working with funeral homes in Covington, Attica, Kingman and Veedersburg, Frances and Wisher established Myers Department Store in Veedersburg in 1941. From 1947-57, the Myers family owned and operated several drive-in theaters, the Dixie and the Illiana in Danville, Ill., and the East Side Auto Theater in Terre Haute. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and her many charitable organizations. She actively supported and was a member of United Methodist Women, Bonebrake Cemetery League, Tri Kappa, Fountain County Historical Society, Lioness Club, Covington Women's Club, Business and Professional Women's Club, Friday Study Club, Republican Women, Friends of the Library, Booklovers Club, and she served on the original board for the development of Shawnee Learning Center and Headstart. She enjoyed the philanthropic activities of the State Legislators Wives Club while her husband served as a legislator. Survivors, besides her husband, include: sons, Dr. Charles (Sandra) Myers and Dr. David (Trudie) Myers, both of Attica; sister, Grace (Lloyd) Moughler, Plainfield; and brother, C. Edward (Evelyn) Baldwin, Monroe, Ohio; one grandson; one granddaughter; and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) in Veedersburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Russell officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Parham Shelby Funeral Home, Veedersburg, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made to the Veedersburg United Methodist Church or Fountain County 4-H Foundation. – jlr
